Botulinum Toxin is a naturally occurring neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. Botulinum Toxin type A is commonly used clinically for medical and aesthetic purposes and works by temporarily preventing a muscle from moving.  A small quantity is injected into specific muscles using tiny needles. This smooths lines and wrinkles by stopping the muscle from moving, prevents new lines from forming and leads to smoother, tighter and more youthful appearance.  Overtime, the effect of the toxin is reversed and the muscle slowly regains its function. This commonly takes 12-16 weeks but there are many factors that can affect this. 

 The most commonly treated areas include horizontal forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet but many other areas of the face can also be treated.
